Poppy Pods

Poppy Pods__8x6 oil on linen

Here is the last poppy painting I did for the Colorado Show. This show was put together by Bea and Peggy, a couple of real art fans and neighbors of at our place in Colorado. The show will benefit the new Fire House which our community built to protect the families here. It is a volunteer fire service, complete with an alarm that sounds each Monday. Hopefully, this fire house will be busy with community activities, (like the art show), and not busy with fires.
My upcoming schedule is below.

Shy One

Shy One__8x6 oil on linen panel
Like yesterday's painting, this one will be available if it doesn't sell at the Colroado Show over the weekend. If you are interested ($190 unframed, includes shipping), please let me know and I will put your name on it :) It is a poppy from my father-in-law's garden, joined by some daisies that he transplanted a few years ago....neighbors come from all over the canyon to take some of HIS daisies, now, because he has so many! Stay tuned for more works from Colorado and the plains we went through to get here! See my upcoming schedule below....

Sketch 10-Daisy Day

Daisy Day___sketch #10 from my Colorado Sketchbook__Auction soon

My mother-in-law, Bilie's favorite flower is the daisy, and there have always been bunches of them on the high mountain passes above their place in Colorado. A few years ago, my father-in-law, RV brought a bunch down to our canyon place and planted them....now they are EVERYWHERE!!! RV has shared them with all the neighbors and they are growing all over...BUT, this year they were not as tall and full as usual, making me think they need more early rain, or colder springtime!
For all my friends in NEBRASKA! Right now there is a special exhibit in Lincoln, at the Great Plains Art Museum. This is a special exhibit called Curator's Choice. Each of the curators from the past 30 years has selected their favorite works for this exhibit, and my painting called "Passing" was selected. Next week is a special reception at the museum, and I will get to go! PLEASE COME MEET ME! The reception is
Friday, August 6, 5-7 pm. ...otherwise, keep a lookout for me along the backroads! I will be doing some
"drive-by painting" on the highways and byways for a few days! Let me know if you are coming! vvaughan8@yahoo.com

Daisy Dog

Daisy Dog___11x14 oil on linen ___ for sewe
I painted the study for this one back in July...always having it in mind to do a larger work....I think I want to do a larger one, still. Click on the image to see a larger version.
A few days ago I was a little bit smug about shipping 230 pounds of paintings to Charleston. (Maybe you couldn't tell, but I was pretty proud of myself: first, for getting it all into just two large boxes, and second, because I, myself, lifted those big boxes into the truck to take to FedEx)...payback time happened today. I turned to see "what next" to do in my studio, and there was ONE large painting left behind...I forgot to ship it! So today, I had to take one painting to FedEx...I am mad at me for the extra shipping expense.....vvaughan8@yahoo.com
