Romeo's Last Thunder_____Pastel pencils on archival paper_____Family Collection
Our beloved "Good Dane", Romeo died on Thursday....He has been in our family since he was a baby, given to my oldest son as a Christmas gift. Of course, when the son went away to college, I claimed Romeo....He truly was a gentle giant who made a great impact on all who net him...I have spent the past few days moping and missing him....terribly.
I got to hold him in my arms when he went "away", but I made sure not to cry till he was gone. He was brave, and gentle and a lot of fun, even just a few days ago!...I sketched this today, from one of his last photos. He was looking out the window, a little bit nervous that there was distant thunder in the area...he never liked thunder....

Sorry for you loss. RIP Romeo
Hugs,
Lynn
Some dogs leave voids that can never be filled, but such a great way to memorialize your dog. You seem to have really captured his personality.
Sorry to hear of your loss, I know how much it hurts having just lost my dearly beloved dog Mickey.
Beautiful painting, what a lovely dog he was.
So sorry to hear of your loss, I know how it feels, I lost my old dog 2 years ago . You have honoured him with this beautiful drawing, now we all know how wonderful he was.
My thoughts and prayers are w. you. I so know how empty it is when a dog passes on. It took me several weeks to get beyond the loss. Now I have wonderful and silly memories, as I can see you do, too.
Beautiful tribute to a wonderful friend. I'm so sorry for the void his passing left - anyone who has had to say goodbye to a beloved pet can empathize - big hugs to you...
Ouch! But what a lucky dog to have been so loved. And what a beautiful tribute by you.
Oh V :(
I'm used to 'seeing' Romeo beautifully painted or sketched in your posts. How fortunate that you could be with him when he crossed the bridge.
I know how you feel.
{{{Hugs}}}
I started following your work after I saw a sketch of Romeo on the daily painter's web site. He looks like a wonderful dog. When I saw this sketch and the title today on the site, I thought "Oh no!" Then I went to your site and my fear was confirmed. Thank you for sharing him with the rest of the world. I know you will miss him terribly as will everyone who has gotten to know him through you wonderful drawings of him. My thoughts are with you.
It's heartbreaking to lose a pet - they are so wonderful - very, very sorry.
I'm so sad for your loss. I think your drawings of him are all superb. Wonderful expression.
