#84 - Between Earth and Hereford

Between Earth and Hereford___6x8 oil on linen panel__$490 for Passing America...
This drive-by painting was done in May, 2010. My friend Barbara drove me over the entire circuit of the Texas Plains Trail. It was a thrilling few days, because each day the clouds would build behind us, and tornado warnings would pop up in the places we had just left.

This was a morning location near Dimmitt, TX. Between a couple of small towns named, yes, EARTH, TX and Hereford, TX...I like the double meaning of the title, and will probably add some Hereford cattle in there, just to make people wonder :) A rain shower had just passed and the light was hitting the elevators and hay fields ahead of us.

ALSO...PLEASE see what you can do to help a Bastrop, TX fire victim...My good friend, Linda....(below)

Moonset Elevators in Kansas

Moonset Elevators in Kansas__8x6 oil ___for Passing America:The Great Plains
I just now compared this one with the painting I posted yesterday...Both are "drive-by" paintings, prepared for my upcoming exhibit. Both were painted along the same stretch of highway, about 30 minutes apart. The time difference is evident by the color in the sky! As the sun got higher (at my back), the full moon dissolved into the clear sky...The morning moonset is one of my favorite subjects, and is a focus of my upcoming workshop ...I hope you will come paint with me in November...get some sleep first! We will paint the "extremes" of the daylight :) Email Bill for info: bill@fbgartschool.com

Tracks out of Enid_

Out of Enid__24 x 30 oil on linen...available for Passing AMerica: The Great Plains
Here is another LARGE one, worked up from a study that I posted a few days ago. Click here to read about the "drive-by" study, and see the image below.
I started the larger version as a demo in Frederikcsburg, TX Thursday for Der Kuenstler Artists. Der Kuenstler is a large group that I have done a demo for before. Many of them follow my blog, so I told them that i would post the FINAL finished version...here it is, above, . The middle version is where we left off after the 1-1/2 hour demo...the version at bottom is the study (a drive-by painting)
As I compare these, I still see a few little "oil changes" to make, but nothing significant. I really like the character of the study, but need to remember that the bigger one is a NEW work and cannot be a perfect replica.I will Photograph it again and exchange that image on this post as soon as I can, so check back in a week or so if you want to see the "final final"...
