Luna

Luna___10x8 oil on linen panel for Tina
Here is another painting for Tina, whom I mentioned yesterday. This one is Luna, her other beloved Chow...I am still making a few minor little "oil changes" on Luna, but...here ya go!

Mars Dog

Mars___10 x 8 oil on linen panel____for Tina
I met Tina at the Easton Waterfowl Festival in Maryland. She owns a couple of the prettiest chow dogs EVER, and I am lucky enough that Tina let me paint them for her! Here is her big boy Mars...great name!...I have a few "Ear-justments" to make, but will ship Mars off later in the week...
For you artists looking in: Thick fur can seem like a scary thing to try to paint...the secret is to see BIG SHAPES, rather than long individual hairs....each shape has its own color and value...if you mix color carefully, and draw the shapes well, you'll get it!

Mars at the Door__10 x 8

"Mars at the Door"__10 x 8 oil on linen___for T if she likes it!
Here is Mars! A beautiful Chow mix, belonging to my friend, who probably thinks I forgot about her! I Had started this a long time ago, and last week I thought I would look again at the photos and e-mails from T....Good thing I did, because the painting I had started had the wrong dog in the painting! See my first draft, below....YIKES! WHO IS THE BLACK DOG?!!! I know T told me the story, but my delay caused me to forget....SO>>>Here is the REAL draft of Mr. Mars, and pending approval from T, it's her painting...
To you artists: So many of you tell me that you wish you had my energy...THANK YOU, but I wish I did not make so many mistakes that REQUIRE me to spend more time (and energy)at the easel, FIXING things! haha Honestly, the best way to be a good problem solver is to be nearly perfectly organized and smart...the SECOND BEST way is to make so many mistakes that you get good at problem solving, because you have a lot of PRACTICE!!!
Mystery Dog....oops....

Sonny

"Sonny"

I have painted so many snowy, cloudy days lately, that I thought it was time for something "Sonny"! I just finished this commissioned "portrait" of Tina's beloved guy kicking back in some warm sunshine.
If you get my daily painting by e-mail then you saw my other version of Sonny, but Tina chose this one. ...and I have a THIRD "Sonny" that I might post another time! I'd be interested to know which one you like! To get the daily e-mail please leave your address at right and click "Join". Then you get the art in your mailbox and you don't have to read all the ramblings....just look at the art and toss it!
